Hi

I am rebuilding an M110 at present. Euro pistons, 30 thou off head and 10 thou off block and offset wkeys to rectify cam timing. About 10:1 compression.
But I am stuck with the camshaft regrind specs. It would be ideal to get them reground to AMG specs but 2 months of enquiries have not ended up with someone who can either supply AMG spec cams or regrind my cams to this spec.
I am sure there will be someone who can regrind the cams to the AMG specs but I have not found them yet. I live in Australia but shipping camshafts to Germany or US is not that expensive.

AMG managed to get the M110 motor to 215hp from 185hp without changing the compression ratio so there must be some gains available in the right mods to camshaft and cylinder head. I think 220hp is achievable with the increased compression, which would push the relatively small W123 along nicely.
Any advice on who I can contact for cam regrinding or supply would be appreciated as I have drawn nothing but dead ends to date.

Thanks, Kbdon

Some kind suggestions.

1) Increase the exhaust size.

2) Increase the bore of the throttle body

3) Find a larger airflow sensor.

4) Install an adjustable rising rate fuel pressure regulator. Hard to find, but they're out there.

5) Get the crank knife-edged.

6) Port the head.

7) Knurl those new pistons.

M110 mods

thanks all for the advice:

I am using the old euro style 3 into 1 exhaust manifold, so twin pipes full length and with 1.5 inch twin pipes it does have more top end power

Followed up with Mike at Metric motors who knows his stuff but could not help me with performance camshafts for the M110

I will follow up Nutz about the building up and regrinding of the cams

There was a post about a year ago on the M117 forum about a place in Germany that would regrind cams to similar to AMG specs but I can't find ithe post now

I know the megasquirt way is probably easier HP gains but I sort of want to keep it old school style and with higher compression and the right cam 210 to 215 hp should be achieved and that will be enough for me

As you know no offense intended, but your exhaust system choice on your car does not jibe. You removed the factory looking but not original to the car a/c system, but install an aftermarket exhaust system. I install an original exhaust system and install a factory looking but not original 5-speed. No A/C, you are crazy Mon.

We should swap exhaust systems. :D
