iPod Aux Cable install for 2005 C230k (PICTURES)
Auxiliary input cable for iPod/MP3 install on a 2005 c230k
Thanks to Painkiller for first posting instructions on his AUX input install for his 2005 c230k. I followed his instructions and thought I’d post my pictures from my install as well.
Disclaimer: I am not responsible for any damage done to your car by attempting to follow these instructions. I am not an expert!
Parts needed:
Part # A 210 440 50 05 64 (aux cable – I bought mine from the dealer for $32 + tax)
Standard 2.5 mm audio cable from Radio Shack ($5)
Small Allen Wrench
Small flathead screwdriver
Box cutter
Cable ties
Installation Time:
75 minutes
Painkiller did his in 30 minutes…I’m not as fast.
1. Remove panel on the right side of the glove box.
2. Lift up trim piece on the bottom of the passenger-side door frame. You do not need to remove the whole trim piece, the first two or three snaps will do. Ignore in this picture the fact that I have already located the wiring harness…you will find the wiring harness after a few more steps have been completed.
3. Locate the passenger-side kick panel underneath the glove box but above the floorboard. Use a small screwdriver to pop off the cap covering the Allen screw.
4. Use an Allen wrench (not sure what size) to remove the screw. Once the screw is removed, use some force to remove the kick panel.
5. Go back to the exposed wiring track located underneath the floor trim panel on the door frame and fish around for an empty white wiring harness. Take the Mercedes-Benz auxiliary cable (Part # A 210 440 50 05 64) and plug the white adapter into the white wiring harness.
6. Run the wire up behind the kick panel and use a cable tie to secure the cable to the existing exposed wires.
7. Pull back the insulation and locate the outline of the hole for the other end of the aux cable. Use a box cutter or a hobby knife to perforate the plastic and use force to remove the plastic cutout.
8. Plug the other end of the MB aux cable into the hole.
9. Plug your iPod or MP3 player into the new jack using a standard 2.5mm audio cable.
10. Press and hold CDC on your radio for three seconds to activate the AUX Input. Congrats! You know can enjoy your iPod without spending money on the expensive iPod Integration Kit! Of course you can’t control the iPod using any buttons other than the iPod itself…but for the price you can’t beat it!
Thanks again to PainKiller for posting his install first!
