Do you need some sort of a special tool to get these things rebuilt?

Case in point, the first picture we note that the sleeve doesn't quite fit into the chamber. It is tapered in such a way that it doesn't fit in this way, but will actually fit in the other way round which I find strange. Which brings me to the next part.

On the second picture we note that with the spring hooked up to the emblem and placed in the proper divets that spring is actually quite close to the chamber where we can insert the pin, however, the is now way to pick at the spring enough place to put pliers to pull it out.

On the third picture we have the said pin which will secure the whole assembly.

This has me stumped although I have a strange feeling that the solution to getting the pin in is very simple, just can't figure it out at the moment in time.

I would greatly appreciate it if anyone that has rebuilt their hood emblem can kindly walk me through the process.

Thank you.

Mrryane I tied some thin strong twine on the spring or wire , .,,i had a another person hold the emblem with a duster and i pulled the sttring out till i could replace the holding pin well in my star emblem it was like a small dogs bone made of brass you had to put in the centre of the spring to retain it ..

Good fella from another site showed how its done and if you note from the video:

The cylinder actually goes into the barrel (where mine doesn't), so I decided to measure it up and whip up the sandpaper. Anyway sanded it down 0.5mm and it fits into the barrel now. Something to do with a new design rosette and an old repair kit for the old rosette... How annoying... Anyway its done already and thanks for your input.

Cheers.
