Hello everyone, new to the forum...Im looking to purchase a 300SD(thanks, chadahar)...it will be my first Mercedes.

I was looking around for ideas and inspiration and found this...

is this a common thing? I think it looks the sexiness. Check it out...

I don't think many members here on BW have that mod. I do like it though look pretty good. Once you start driving Mercedes it will be hard to switch to another car. They grow on you. The 300cd is a good choice in my opinion bullet proof 5 cyl diesel motor.

300 CD is a different body style that the 126. SEC front end will not fit. If you mean 300SD then that IS a 126 and there is still difficulty fitting an SEC front end onto a Sedan. You need the whole dog house(fenders, hood, front bumper, grill.

Talbir has done this swap and has a list of what is needed.

If your looking for a 300cd then you're in the wrong forum :( Go to the w123 and get started. If you're looking to go with a big body car then stay here with us!

This is not common and yes, it is the sexiness

That looks pretty good and is a rarer color as well.
AA's coupe front end is a bit different as I think the coupe fron part of the hood and grille was grafted onto a sedan hood. I haven't the foffiest idea how that is done, but the front bumper from a coupe still has to be used for the fog lights, or at the least the coupe middle section of the bumper chrome has to be used.

Maybe AA can tell us exactly what off the coupe is used in his case.

If you're looking for throw you back in your seat response don't buy the SD go with a gas motor. If you want above average reliability go with diesel. To me it would make sense to mod a gas motor car since they are quicker and I'm a diesel nut!

Nah, Ive wanted something diesel for a while now. the girlfriend said that she wont get in the car with me because its ugly....but she is warming up to it.

Im looking for reliability....the OM617.951 is a tank i hear....im really excited...

she said "make yours look like that"

I told her I would look into it...

Euro Bumper Tutorial...of sorts.

OK here's the drill
1981 to Sept. 1985 (9/85) are Gen I cars.
9/85 thru 1991 Are G3en II cars.

The Gen I Euro bumpers have the bump below the Chrome like the bumpers you put on your car, front and rear. Gen II bumpers are very smooth and have no bump below the Chrome but have a groove.
AlsoGen I cars Side Cladding have ridges lengthwise in them. Gen II cars Side Cladding are smooth.

The bumpers you put on your SEC are Gen I bumpers, front and rear. Gen II Euro Bumpers are scarce as hens the here in the states.

If you don't mind that they are Gen I then it doesn't matter a whit. The car looks good with the Euro's on it.
