Just got these today. I test fitted them and they fit perfectly, even fills in the corner gap. I Will update once I have these running. I'm stuck on the wiring.. this is a 99 and I ordered both the corner and head beam freighter plug in socket harness incase I need them... 12$ on amezon. I will need help with that part, I'm lost when it comes to wiring.

Hi. I wouldn't call them cheaper next to a depo pair for 249.99 that is compatible, that was my other option, these were 319 for me.
From studying the photos I didn't see much difference in the sockets, so I guessed that just repinning would have been enough.
I chose these specifically for the look of the DRL's they have, I never liked the bottom strip with the little leds other compatible aftermarket headlights have and I didn't want the option of no strip at all so I took the risk and went with these.. I could not find photos of anyone using these. When I get the chance I'm gonna try my best with the wiring and update everyone, but I'm so glad it fits great, my previous 2006 aftermarket lights had a gap in the corner when installed and so did the old hella ones I still have.
Here is the link. I got them from this seller.

Sorry for the early teaser guys, I'm well in over my head with this car in things I've purchased and still need to put on. I've done heeps of work already by myself in the past 2 months.. you'd want to trade cars😅. Right now I've gotten up early to finish the final rear hub and tie rod, new ebrake parts and rotor.. I've done all 4 wheels already... Doesn't even scratch the surface in things I've done for this car and have to put on. I've spent over 4k in parts and 2 wheels repaird... ok fine, here is my list. Brake booster, master cylinder, 2 front calipers, 4 new rotors and pads, new radiotor, new thermostat, new spark plugs, new coils and wires, new tie rods and hubs, 2 front bilstein shocks, center master lock switch, window regulator, ac actuator, fuel pump and filter.. replacement rear hatch and front rear bumper, speed sensors, 02 sensors crank sensor, egr valve, air intake seal gasket, air filter and cabin filter, passenger seat controler, new tail ligts, lots of led bulbs, so much stuff and I've only got 1 key for this car so I need to look into that still.. not to mention my sub need to be reinstalled and I need a capacitor for it and also not to mention the products i need to buy to clean everything including the paint which doesn't need repainting atleast.. but I'll try and do these headlights next week sometime. I'm just glad to let everyone know they fit.

1 key for this car so I need to look into that
Order a Mickey Mouse key at the dealer ASAP.

If you find a fob you can
Install a chip from a Mickey key in it, and with programming ( pro level scanner) mate the used fob to the cars alarm, Have the correct blade cut ordered at the dealer for around 20.

As to the early teaser did you not ask how to wire the lights?

I worked this up for converting my '98 to Facelift headlights. It looks like the Freightliner units use the 1998-2001 ML pinout.

1998-1999 headlight connector pinout:
E1e1 / E2e1 (high): Pin G to power. Pin E to ground.
E1e2 / E2e2 (low): Pin A to power. Pin E to ground.
E1e3 / E2e3 (standing and parking lamp): Pin F to power. Pin E to ground.
E1e4 / E2e4 (fog lamp): Pin H to power. Pin E to ground.
E1e5 / E2e5 (turn signal - side marker): Pin C to power. Pin A to ground.
E1e6 / E2e6 (side marker lamp): Pin B to power. Pin A to ground.
X18/11 - Auxilliary headlamp connector: Pin B to power. Pin A to ground.

2002-2005 headlight connector pinout:
E1e1 / E2e1 (high): Pin F to power. Pin E to ground.
E1e2 / E2e2 (low): Pin H to power. Pin E to ground.
E1e3 / E2e3 (standing and parking lamp): Pin G to power. Pin E to ground.
E1e4 / E2e4 (fog lamp): separate fog lamps
E1e5 / E2e5 (turn signal - side marker): Pin C to power. Pin A to ground.
E1e6 / E2e6 (side marker lamp): pin B to power. Pin A to ground.
Auxilliary headlamp connector: None.

Great ideas & inspiration here !

I think for some of the non-intuitive wiring guys (whose eyes glaze over when decoding a wiring diagram) a 'plug & play' kit approach to this upgrade would be helpful

I would be interested in an adaptor harness with relay & instructions that would make these DRL Columbia Headlights work in the ML

Fwiw, I have decent DRLs that I mounted on my Bull Bar wired to IGN fuse so they come on with Key in for DRL functionality.

Theyre plenty bright visible in full sun like oem ones.

But my headlamps are aging oe Projector beam units that beg to be upgraded.

Advance Kudos & thanks to whoever of you creative Dudes can wire up, install & post pics of this Mod !

View attachment 2634840

I know there are stainless trims available for the W163 headlights, but are those Freightliner gaskets available separately anywhere? I’ll have to go poking around the big truck corners of the interwebz. Maybe hit some of the big truck stops and parts shops around here. We’re a bit of a shipping hub. Lots of that around.

So I've been looking at some Freightliner Columbia headlights for my ML500 and came across a pair that don't have a removable cover for changing the bulbs. I think the lights are completely LED, no incandescent bulbs at all.

I've contacted one seller and this was their reply.

Hello,

Thanks for contacting us.
Unfortunately, our manufacturer has not provided us w/any information other then what is mentioned in the listing & since the Headlights are not on-location we're unable to physically observe them for you. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us.

I'm waiting for another seller to respond but am not hopeful. $400 is a big gamble on headlights. The reason I'm changing out my oem projector headlights is so that I can use them in my wrecked 99 ML320. I think it is pretty cool that (if my assumptions are correct) there are bolt in headlights with no bulbs to burn out.

I just heard back from another seller.

Hello.

There is no light bulbs to be replaced because it is full LED.

Thank you for contacting us.

These are indeed full LED, I'm going to buy them and report back on how it goes.

I tried both headlights and they work great. Very very bright with a good beam pattern.
Now to rewire them, pull the bumper off the ML500 and switch them out. I'd rather change the wiring on the headlights themselves and leave my vehicle wiring alone. These headlights come with 8" wire harnesses unlike the OEM units. I haven't decided if I want to use the DRL function yet. Also these do not make the turn signals blink fast, so they must have the resistors built in.
