I don't recall if that applies to your model, but there is a hole to the left of the shifter, where inserted pencil will release the shifter. Should be in manual.

 

I could not find an obvious hole anywhere on the shifter or anywhere on the center console nearby.... thanks for the help though:thumbsup:

 

The loud clack might be the starter trying to engage the flywheel if the battery is good. It could be a defective starter drive or starter.

The fact that when you turn the key on to the start position and you hear the clack makes me think the starting system.

When you have the key in the on position you should be able to step on the brake and move the shift selector to N.

 

I hope its not a starting system problem... Ill try holding the key in position tonight when I get home. Hope this works!
