DPF and EGR

What’s up BW, hope everyone has been doing well!

Today a large pickup began to merge over into my lane and I floored it to avoid being hit. This immediately triggered a CEL.

The codes are P244B(DPF pressure too high bank 1)and P0404( EGR out of range). I am not experiencing any drivability issues so far.

Can anyone clarify if these two codes are directly related and if replacing the EGR might solve the issue?

Im at 257k miles with a recently refurbished DPF, I can’t imagine it’d be throwing codes on its own already.

Did more research and a faulty egr can potentially throw multiple different codes. I cleared the old codes and CEL came on again the next day this time only one code, still relating to DPF restriction or ash accumulation.

It doesn’t always indicate a issue with the DPF itself, so I just ordered another EGR and will see if CEL persists. Faulty/clogged EGR can cause an increase in DPF pressure as ash accumulates due to the car being unable to regenerate properly. I’m still learning more about this engine but hopefully this helps out another w211 diesel owner

I’ll check those tubes as well, thanks! So my plan is to install a different egr (mine is likely original) and do a manual regen for now.

Did a lot of digging through different forums and started seeing threads warning of carbon build up inside the EGR tube in the front of the engine and possibly intake manifold. Did this happen to all Bluetec/OM642s or just cars not properly maintained? And is there a way to check this and purge everything out?
