I was browsing around Wolfgang's ML page.. and came across this designo ML interior picture. (http://www.whnet.com/4x4/design.html) - the last picture. Man, i love the natural poplar wood trim!! Do you think anyone sell this? Is it hard to change the wood trim if someone sells it?

As usually they look better on the picture, than in the real.
What bought me the car was the two-tone seats.
Few years ago on ebay somebody was selling wood kits to ad over the original trimming. It wasn't burlap, but still wood. Didn't see it lately, but now -having the real thing I am not looking for it either.

IMHO

Actually, the OEM poplar trim is very nice - breaks up a sombre interior but with our 2005ML350SE, we chose the light grey interior with dark smoke wood trim and it is really nice. Only downside is that every speck of dust shows!

Our 98ML has the original "walnut" brown wood and I was getting a little tired of that. The poplar was my original choice just to break up the dark trim - to me, the worst was the charcoal with almost black wood trim as the ML looked like a cave.

I'd be very leery of those after market stick on trim kits - unless they are exceptionally well made, they will probably not last too long. The OEM trims are very well made.

jangr320, your interior looks so clean! i need to get my interior detailed.. hehe
as for the wood trim, i dunno, i'm just sucker for light colored wood trim. (altho if the leather is light grey, that smoke wood looks awesome too!). My ML interior is Java with burl walnut trim. I would love to see how its like with the natural poplar trim, but don't want to get the aftermarket trim.. if it sticks on the original trim, won't it look thick?

Thanks... yeah, I like to keep the clean as possible. The final year SE editions of the 163 cars had all sorts of interesting parts bin stuff added which made for good value - that's one reason I leased one instead of getting the new 164 model. One option trim included thet java leather with light poplar trim and that looked really good. Wife wanted the grey with smoke wood though.

The problem I see with the stick on trim is around the rounded edges etc - like the ashtray area and light trim on a dark base will really show around the edges. The stick on trim seems to work well on cars that never had that trim option, but I'd want to see the light on dark "in the flesh" as it were before plunking down all that cash.

:bowdown::bowdown: I love the poplar wood trim. Reminds me of the Audi interiors which IMO, are top notch.
