If anyone needs AMG tow hook covers they can go with the unpainted OE AMG Tow Hook covers or try out Dostrix.com

If you chose to go with Dostrix I would like to get feedback on the fit and finish. Note: they do not show the wired mesh screen that comes with the OE covers but you can get the screen from Lowe's or Home Depot and spray paint it black yourself.

Original equipment AMG Tow Hook Covers unpainted medium gray w/ black mesh screen cost
WA1298800405, right passenger $394 US list
WA1298800305, left $394 US list

Note: check out these $120.00 plus ship/pair of fiberglass unpainted copies of the Sport Tow Hook Cover at Dostrix.com

I have nothing to gain from suggesting this product but would like to hear feedback so we can help the next forum member.

Hello
This is my first version of AMG tow hook cover, made of fiberglass which may not perfect as plastic molding process
To install, it need just a little of silicon glue to attach with the bumper
Do not use a lot of silicon, so it will be easier when you need to open the cover just peel it off, when you it back just glue it again

The black mesh screen, I have the aluminum type with black color please letting me know if you want or you can DIY the net, not difficult

Here is the picture of the back

I just received the Dostrix covers today and am not satisfied...the fit is off. If the top of the cover is flush the bottom is not flush, If I make the bottom flush the top doesn't line up correctly. I've got an email in to dostrix to see what can be done. I'm going to post a new thread with how things work out.

Mike, I'm sorry that they didn't work out for you but if my memory serves me well someone else had the same problem that your experiencing. May I suggest that you consider drilling a small hole in the top and maybe the bottom and screw them in place. This will also stop them from falling off of the car.

Please keep us posted if you are able to make them work. If not just return them to Dostrix and get your money back and purchase the following

AMG Tow Hook Cover unpainted medium gray w/ black mesh screen
WA1298800405, right $355.28 w/ S&H (passenger side)
WA1298800305, left $355.28 w/ S&H from Parts.com

Total $710.56

I'm waiting to hear from Dostrix before I try to modify them. Shipping was 40 bucks, not sure I want to spend another 40 to ship them back. I'd be happy if he refunded half the price. I can't for the life of me see how these things could be $350 apiece, has to be all of 5 dollars in materials. Unreal!!

I'll let everyone know how it turns out

I received an email from Dostrix...basically said I'm on my own. He said most people have to make some modifications because of bumper flex and warping, not what I wanted to hear, I guess the price should have been an indicator. Not mad, just a bit disappointed. I guess I'll try and modify them to fit. I'll post pictures of the process when I'm finished

I know Doxtrix is a board vendor but based on my experience, I can't recommend these tow hook covers.
Thanks for the feedback. Have you tried getting your money back less the shipping?

I'm pretty sure that Dostrix is NOT a BW Supporting Vendor.

I tried the money back route...he said something about having to get with his "marketer/distributor" but I haven't heard back from him. I should have known better, I might be able to make one of the tow hook covers work the other is hopeless. Lesson learned, maybe some "real" ones will pop up somewhere.

Yes,

I picked them up at the post office on Wednesday. I just came up from the garage where I dry fitted them. They will require some work to make fit but I am pretty sure they will work out just fine.

When I buckle down to that process I will post back. Time will tell.

Joe I guess you have not received them yet?

Are you able to post a picture of your installed Sport Tow Hook covers?

Dostrix replied when I put a claim in with PayPal; apparently, they tried to deliver them on 7/31, but I was not home, nor did the mail man leave an attempt to deliver notice. I went to the Post Office and picked them up today. Now I have to fit them, scuff them and paint them Silver...the covers
are black from the box. In any case I will let the forum know how it all works out before leaving a recommendation.

Thanks,
Joe B.:)

They work. The size is correct, they come with the mesh attached, and the only thing I could see as constructive criticism is that the angle (pitch) is a bit off. However, they are fine, and one would have to look hard to tell the difference from the OEM.

Great deal, Dostrix...Thanks.

Would you please post a picture? It's worth a thousand words.

Thanks in advance, Lynn

TOTAL RIP-OFF! I ordered a set in Oct of last year. Emailed a question and never got a response. Emailed about the order after a month and never got a response. Did a dispute with Paypal and was told that after 45 days they couldn't do anything. Trying to now get a refund through my credit card company. Don't waste your time or money.
