MB Dealership says my cam plugs and centrifuge need service because they are leaking oil on my 2008 CLK550. Has about 56k miles. They quoted me $450 for that, which based on another thread I saw on here seems crazy. Thought I would bring this topic up again to see what others suggest as a fair price & if I should just go to a local mechanic who has been ok for other cars, but is not a MB specialist. Any thoughts are appreciated.

I changed the 3 plastic plugs in my CLK350 at a cost of approx $20 for parts and 10 min of my time... Though I don't know if these plugs are the same...

The 'centrifuge' is in fact an oil separator with no moving parts. You might just have to renew a seal or gasket.
