I just got my C300 4Matic in Canada. After one week, I put up 300km, now I hear this weird engine noise (it's a squeeking sounds from the timing belt ). Also, when I sometimes start the engine, it shake a bit too. I haven't break-in my car yet. It's already time to visit the dealer :crybaby2:.

Does anyone has these problems?

Thanks - C300W4M

mine rumbles a bit

Squealing? My power steering pump squels a bit.. not enough to worry me just yet. My car does rumble just a bit when I first crank the car up every morning. Remember these cars have Dual VVT and an external air pump to reduce emission while warming up. My assessment is that the cars retardtheir timing significantly to reduce emissions and to warm up properly. i wold not be worried just yet. And no... there is a timing chain... open up the oil cap and you will see the beautiful camshaft sprocket and metal chain.

That is a timing chain, not a timing belt, as I stated above.

He probably means noise from the accessory belt - which is not normal and should be looked at quickly. If one of the pulleys is "off" a bit, the belt could get chewed up in short order.

Warranty. Take it in if you're worried. I get the "rumble" on cold starts. Only started happening after I took it in for my first 1K mile checkup. Timing could be coincidence. But not worried by it. immediately goes away, and no other problems to note.

I also have a C300 4matic. Occasionally it would make squeaking noises on cold mornings. It sounded sort of like a cricket, except it was chirping rapidly. I told the service manager about it at my first Service A. They looked into it and found something. I didn't really catch everything he described, but it had something to do with a belt tensioner pulley or something that was loose while spinning. It was under warranty so they replace the part right away without charge. I'm glad they caught it. I would imagine it might cause major damage if something like that broke while the car was running.
