I see from the R129 threads that this has been the popular recommendation on pads/rotors but most of the posts are several years old. Is this still the way to go?

Front Akebono Euro ceramics, p/n AKEUR847
Front Pad Wear Sensors p/n 1405401217
Note: need two each of the above sensors from your local MB dealer.
Front Zimmermann Cross-Drilled Rotors p/n W0133-180733 or MB p/n 1294212312

Rear Akebono Euro ceramics, p/n AKEUR603
Note: comes w/ one sensor. That's all you need for the rear set.
Rear Zimmermann Plane Rotors p/n W0133-1615886 or MB p/n 1294230312
Rear Zimmermann Cross-Drilled Rotors p/n W0133-1808277 or MB p/n 1294230512

Best is whatever suits you. I have very low tolerance for brake noise.

Genuine MB pads and rotors = no noise, no squeaking… works for me.
I can't say the same.
2 SL's...
OEM pads and rotors and.........
Squeak. Right rear. Replaced the emengency break assembly also....twice...squeak.
Again, OEM parts.
Dealer now recommends caliper....

Zimmerman rotors are a better alternative than oem (better than brembos at least)

I’ve had Akebonos for over a decade on different cars (mb, non-mb, domestic). I like them for the good price and very low dust. They are significantly weaker especially when they’re cold and a level or 2 less than oem in stopping power.

Thanks for all the input. I put Red Stuff Ceramic pads and rotors on it in 2011 which was 30k miles ago and loved the reduced dust but wasn't blown away by the braking power. I'm hopeful that 9 years later, the braking power on the ceramics have improved. I'll kick it around for a little bit and see what I want to do.

I have cross drilled on mine but if I were ordering today I would have gone cross drilled and slotted or dimple and slotted. Personal preference though. I have crossdrilled on the SL500 and E550, slotted on the R350 and Sprinter, and finally cross drilled and slotted on the BMW 335i, all paired with akebono euro ceramics

The pedal feel on these cars is best described as progressive. IMO it will never have that stiff feel but it can be improved. The Paragon lines are great because the fittings and lengths are made specifically to the car. I used ATE Racing Blue first time round, next time I’m going to try Motul 660. It has to be pressure bled to push the fluid out of the ABS unit, I have a Motive Euro power bleeder and works great.

I’m pretty sure it’s option A but pull one of your wheels and look at the fitting you have now and match it up to one of the options. I did this years ago so I no longer remember and i don’t know if they made changes during production.
