Three months into an 'interesting' purchase 2005 B180 CDi CVT.

...............

Not the best engine bay to work on, access is very tight. ............
Welcome to our merry group...:beerchugr:

I agree and have never seen a tighter fit and next to impossible to get much done when working from the underside.(at least for me..) Be happy that your B is not the Turbo B 200 as getting the spark plugs out will be a true test of your patience . Others here with the turbo have cried often here and with good reason..

Let us know what other exciting times you encounter with this B. ...:wink

If you have an iCarsoft MB V2.0 (not MB II), it is capable of reseting EGR, I believe (I know nothing about diesels, but remember reading this).

I can double check with mine, unless you already know this :grin ...

I have that, not a bad scanner though ;) It keeps coming back almost immediately. I've already outlined the problems and what has been done in the post. Just waiting it to be published

I don't know if this is a common problem or not, but last week a couple of pieces of black plastic debris appeared inside my instrument cluster and nested themselves to the lower right of the fuel gauge. A photo of the instrument panel when the car was new does not show them!

So I have some work for the boys at TPM to attend to when I eventually go in for Service 1: RE & RE instrument cluster, clean out plastic detritus and determine where the heck it came from!

Bizarre.
Old post, I know, but I just came along this post by chance. On my B I also had a small piece of debris inside the instrument cluster. Weird.

Howdy,

I've created this stickied thread so that you can post links to threads about common B class problems, and their solutions. This will help us keep the top of the forum from getting cluttered with stickies, and will also be a great resource for new members here at Benzworld.

Cheers,
Chris

Hello..

Am having some issue with windsheild wipper blads on my 2014 B250. They became slow few days back. Then they will stop working and then after 30 mins will work again. I thought maybe they need some wd40 to lossen them up. But that didnt help much. Now passenger side works and drivers side stoped working. I donno what the problem is. I thought it be motor but then left side is working. Could it be fuse? Are fuses vehical specific? Or any fuse would work? Any idea what the fuse number is for windsheild wiper blads. Any help is highly appreciated. Thanks

Great idea for the topic. Here is another common issue I'm just dealing with right now, and this thread was a life saver.
Heater Blower Motor only working in highest (5) position.
If your blower just works on highest speed only that's caused by water leaking through pollen filter. Check for water blockage by the pollen filter and clear the drain, and check for water in battery compartment. If you replace the resistance only it's likely it will get damaged again.

If one wiper is working, then it's not a fuse. I would expose the wiper rods and wiper motor and make sure that all are well lubed and properly connected as they complete their sweep across the windshield/windscreen.

This is the W245 forum (B150 up to B200 turbo) ..so probably differs from your newer and completely different B250.

The last time I did one was in my Peugeot 404 back in 1990....they are damned fun!
I used to have a 404, back in 1976. estate with amazing sprung seats, ZF transmission and loads of space in the back. I still pine for it. Have seen a few dutch resxtorations but nothing on sale. My first car in Toronto but sadly had to go due to rust, despite being ziebarted.

The station wagon to get if you can is the 1796 cc 90 HP twin carb version - early 504 engine - which were relatively quick, sold in 1970-71 only. I know one still exists in Williamsburg Ontario but rust did kill most.

Brilliant car. The front and back seats were wide, ergonomic and heavily sprung. The rear suspension was double coils and the backs of the seats folded down with rails to allow a smooth slide in. Rather like a hearse! I no longer live in Canada. I moved back to London, England about 40 years ago.
