Anyone running E85 in an E350? Experience?

I just noticed that our 2015 E350 is equipped to run E85. Anyone out there running it? Any experiences to share? Our local station sells it cheaper than 87 octane regular. Even with a mileage hit it will be cheaper to run than 93 octane premium gas in this car. I think we're going to do it next time the tank is empty.

Run the premium fuel it is made to run on. I would not be worrying about saving a couple dollars driving a E Class. Run the premium. Save yourself the issues down the road of engine issues. Basically you can run E85 if needed but do not make a habit out of it.

Indy cars run on ethanol. It's a great fuel, there's nothing wrong with it - *IF* the car is made to run on it. I did a lot of research after noticing the "E85" sign in the gas cover of this car. From what I've read the "octane equivalent" would be about 105 when compared to gasoline. If a car is made to run it - it's good stuff. The only issue is it takes a more of it to make the same power when compared to gasoline, which means a hit in mileage.

Alcohol is also commonly used in blacktop motorcycle racing.
I think this is mostly to cleaner exhaust. But also more danger as it burns with no visible flames.
When car manufacturers don't want you to monkey around, alcohol is natural equivalent to gasoline.
Years ago, long before engines start having knock sensors and such, I run out of gas 6 miles from the city.
Going camping, I had 1/2l of denatured ethanol, who I poured into tank and drove without any problem. Had to be close to 50 % .
In my older diesels, who still had mechanical injection I burned everything.
100% bio, 100% jet fuel.
Mixes of veggies.
Never had any problems, not even with seals who suppose to leak exposed to bio.

My (2013) E350 4-matic gets about 440 miles on a fill up of $2.80 Ethanol and about 520 miles on $5.50 premium gas here in California. When gas was $7.40 a gallon, E85 was still $2.90. It's worth it and E85 produces about 5% more horsepower, with less toxic exhaust, so about 320hp. Use the GasBuddy iPhone app to find local E85 stations. There are everywhere.

Glad i saw this! Just recently purchased a 2013 E350 and filled it up with E85 because i noticed it said we could on the gas cap. Was stressing after because I couldn’t find anything written about it from anyone else. It’s so much cheaper in LA to run E85 with just a little less fuel economy than premium!

Absolutely and its one of my favorite things about my M276.952. If I dont fill it with E85 or the wife gets lazy and fuels it with 91 I feel like a fool for often not saving 2 dollars per gallon. Its one of the few things in life thats been all good. I mean, you also get more performance!
