Any tips on how to retrofit or install push button start on W211?

:confused: New here..I have a 2004 Mercedes E-320. I'm wanting to install 'push to start' but am not completely sure how to go about it. I've read a couple threads on here about it but none are for a vehicle similar to mine. (m-class, g-class, etc). I'm pretty inclined when it comes down to removing wires, soldering, and software. I know there's way of retrofitting these things and if anyone has insight much is appreciated.

buy a keyless-go car.....

The parts alone are probably over 2k. Just the door handles are around $250-$300 each and you have 4 door handles. Plus real keyless go also works on the trunk and the gas cap. Throw in the cost of the antennas and the modules and no one that ever thinks about putting it in ever ends up doing it. As others said, the best way to add the feature you want is to just sell the car and buy one with the features you want. In general, it's not cost effective to retrofit any option on an MB.

My best advice would be to just fix up your current car little by little till it's almost pe4fect, but stay on the hunt for a loaded e320 with keyless go. And when the time comes, but it up.
That really is going to be your cheapest and most efficient solution.

I guess it's just me but I really dislike keyless go vehicles. My wife just bought a 2018 Lexus NX and it has keyless go. I find that I know have to put the key somewhere and or I will sometimes not take the key with me. That's super annoying to me. I still like putting a key in the ignition and flicking it over. In fact I like our system how you just click it real quick and it starts compared to other cars where you have to hold the key in the start position before the engine turns over.

But like what was stated above... you are going to drop $$$$ on the sensors and all the other things which really isn't worth it.

It must be just you. I have it on both vehicles and wouldn't buy one without it. I specifically looked for a vehicle that had the P2 package because you get keyless go along with bixenons and active curve illumination. It's really nice in both vehicles. You just tap the start button and it automatically starts. As for putting the keys anywhere, half the time they're just in my pockets. Sometimes they're in my hands and I either end up putting them in the cupholder or in the passenger seat and sometimes you forget to take them, but the car is smart enough to never lock the doors unless you have the keys on you. You also never have to worry about cranking the engine while it's already running, if you do that with keyless go, it just shuts off the engine. I always use the door handles to lock and unlock the car. Only annoying thing about it is that if it's too close to your phone, it doesn't always work. So the usual ideal set up is to walk up to the car, stick your hand in the door handle, have the door pop open, the hop in the seat and hit the start button and go. Saves you about 2-3 seconds having to dig the fob out to find the unlock button and stick it in the ignition to turn on. Leaving is the same thing, reach behind me to tap the lock button on the car and that's it. No getting fob out, hit button, put fob away.

Been mentioned a few other times before. That's what insurance is for. That seems to be a European thing. Not that popular here. Plus you can put the key in a faraday cage if you were really worried about it which I am not. Plus if you park in a parking lot or on the street, they're not going to be able to figure out which house is yours.
