Not sure about extract method. I always drain from the drain plug. I got some where around 7 qt for my 2011 W212.

 

If your car a 4-matic as you posted, those don't do well with the extraction method. They need to have the drain plug pulled to get a good drain.

 

maybe it was low when you started!!

 

The oil filter housing holds at least 1 quart. If you did not change the filter the old oil remains in the housing.

 

I’ve had the same experience on my E400 4Matic. The super sucker method doesn’t work. I barely get 5 quarts out, even jacking up the car to try and shift the oil around to different corners of the pan. I end up having to put the car up on the quickjacks and pulling the plug.
Next time I do it, I’m going right to pulling the plug.

 

I have a 4matic and I got 6 liters out (pulled the oil filter), but I had to work for it.

 

I just did my 550 yesterday and got 7qts out of it. Oh well. 90% new oil is better than none.

 

I have the same question. Using the mityvac I can only get 6 qts. But the dealership has always charged me for 8 Quarts. Whaat's the deal? Suggestions?

 

After using full suction on my 350 4matic (by sealing the space between the dipstick and extraction tube), I was able to get the full 6.5 liters out of the engine. AFAIK it's impossible to do this "topside" fully without sealing this gap.

 

The capacity is not 8 quarts but 8 liters. Normally not a big difference (1 quart - .946 liter)

The dealership aways charges book time too...even if they do a job in half the time.

 

There is no better way than to open the drain plug.

Well, unless you are in an Audi and the drain plug is known to strip the oil pan....what a fiasco.

 

stripping any drain plug is generally because the indidvidual doesn't take time to do the job right.....not over-torquing the drain-plug!!

 

The newer Audis have a twist style drain plug in a plastic oil pan.

The suction method is not a good way to do the oil changes. End of discussion.

The company making the suction unit had a great year of profits by transferring money from the consumer to them. Imagine if you would just turn the drain plug you'd have all of the money in your pocket instead of financing 401k plans for others.

 

The center section contains four of the 8mm fasteners which is necessary to remove for oil changes. I am suggesting that you do this yourself as opposed to leaving several quarts of dirty oil in the pan because of fear of leaving out fasteners.
