I have had an oil leak from the drivers side valve cover area. I have replaced the gaskets twice and I still have a leak. Checked valve cover for straightness and it is warped. picked up a new one from MB...prices was outrageous.....

I usually find these covers bow out at the bottom edge due to over torque. But I also found that you can carefully bow them back in. Some times its so bad the lower edge of the VC hangs off the edge of the head. I have found a torque wrench to be very important here.
no telling what the past owner did. I did use a torque wrench when I replaced the gaskets. It seemed to make the situation worse........the leak was getting worse. smelled oil burning from hitting exhaust manifold. Finally broke down and purchased this......... passenger side is fine.
I reckon they all need setting in to the shape.
When I did timing chain, I reused the old gasket and it made a few leaks at first, but the first time the engine hit the 100°C it stopped.
Overtightening will not allow it to set properly.
