Attached is a piece I put together over the last couple of weekends after researching and finally getting around to changing the ATF in my '87 560 SL for the first time in the eight years I've owned it.
In words and pictures it covers draining the fluid from the pan and torque converter, "reading" the sediments in the pan, resealing the pan and TC, and then refilling the transmission in the Mercedes-prescribed manner to avoid overfilling it. My objective was to create a "how-to" with which someone with little-to-no experience could understand and execute the job safely and effectively.
The document's saved as a PDF and broken into two parts in order to get under the BenzWorld forum's 1.9 MB attachment ceiling for PDFs. Comments, suggestions, and critiques are of course welcome, buds.
Good road,
