I have a different tech issue:

I bought the 2020 GLE350 in June and am having Keyless entry issues. The fob doesn't work consistently. Sometimes when it is in my pocket or handbag, if I grab/touch the door handle it doesn't unlock the car. Even when it is in my hand, I sometimes have to press the fob to unlock the door.

First the dealer told me I had to wake up the fob by shaking it or moving it - and to alternate using the 2 fobs. That is ridiculous - I never had any issue with my 2013 M fobs except for occasionally needing new batteries. The point of the fob is not having to have it in your hand or press the fob. It is a safety concern for me when walking to my car alone.

Also, today on an open highway, the screen flashed like I was about to hit something - but there wasn't anything on the road or any cars around me.

Dealer told me that Mercedes will have a new style key in 2020 - so they must be aware of the issue or they are just putting me off....?

I am having the same issue. Car has been at dealer for two days and they told me I must keep the key in the well and not in my bag or pocket. Seriously? THAT is the solution? What's the point of a keyless entry if you constantly have to fish the key out to open the door? I told her service rep that is not acceptable. I am waiting to hear back. This is my first Mercedes and I've had it for 2 months and it has a ton of problems. What a rip off......

 

I'm having the same fob issue. Shaking it is also my workaround. I've reported the issue to my dealer and through Mercedes online support, but they haven't been useful. The funniest-serious answer I got was that it's not considered a malfunction because communication between the fob and car is through radio waves and we live in a world of waves interference. I'll post back if I ever get a resolution, but I'm not holding by breath...

 

I have also had the same issue, but it has been sporadic/ My 2017 GLE 350 had similar issue My big issue is with the wireless charging pad in my 2020 GLE 450. After 20 minutes it emits a high pitched (transformer) sound that is ear piercing. It is at the dealership now. Already getting the run around. Good Luck, sometimes I wonder why we pay these high prices

Took two visits Delayed delivery of car by 2 days because they had to use the secret spot to start it, and then it failed and they kept it for a week on week 2 of ownership.
Good luck I seemed to be the antenna booster and reset the onboard computer

Same issues with my GLS 450 2020 model.
everything that you mentioned plus other users that have mentioned below. Dealer says cant reproduce.
1. drive assist stops working. have to run off/on car and then resets.
2. car stopped middle of the road. and wont start
3. key fob doesnt work most of the times.
4. swagger lights wont wok most of the times.

 

Yes, I am having the same problem with my new 2020 GLE 450. The door handle lock/unlock feature works only sporadically (about 50% of the time). It's so frustraing. Dealer told me that they were aware of the problem and that a "fix" would take place by March. It's now June and now they're telling me they have no solution. Seriously?

Hi, there is hope! My car was having most of the problems discussed in this thread and after multiple visitssss to my dealer ... I'm happy to report that all the problems are now fixed. Changing the entire MBUX module was key. Apparently the module, placed under the passenger seat, was " totally rusted" and acting weird (generating all sort of diagnostic codes). Frustrating that it took almost a year of continuous follow-ups with my dealer to get to this point. I can now enjoy my 1-year-old-new car. Can't tell if the problem was unique to my car or a common problem. I hope this helps some of you.

 

I have a 2020 GLE350 4MATIC SUV and having a multitude malfunction indicators flashing on display and vehicle does not start. Battery finally drained down. Would not start after shopping at grocery store with car packed with meat/chicken/fish in Florida sun. Wife totally pissed. Called taxi for her with groceries. Had to have vehicle towed to dealership. This will be the 3rd time to the dealership for electronic issues.The MB techs have disassembled/assembled many parts of the car trouble-shooting. I love this vehicle but I can't trust it. I am very worried even though it is under warranty.

 

I have the same model and my car was not able to open the doors at all because the battery was drained out. At that time, a service technician came and jump started the battery in order to start my car. Visited a dealer and they couldn't find any issues including the battery. One thing I noticed that Mercedez Me app notified a critical warning before the battery was dead completely. After a couple of months, I got a clue for this issue related with auto start/stop feature of the vehicle. So, when the car is stopped with parking, there is few notable indication whether the engine is off or not. Whenever I park my vehicle, and turn off the engine with the push button with glowing light on and off. Without manually turning off the engine with the push button, the car looks stopped completely. However, I notice that the battery is still draining without turning off the engine with the push button. Let's say, you parked the car and assume the engine is off. This is not a complete engine off until you push the engine button off. The battery is still draining without noticing, and you locked the doors and leave. That's how I realized and whenever I get off my car, I always check whether my engine is off or not. One thing I check is when I turn off the engine button, I can check the engine status whether the odometer number is disappearing on the dashboard cluster and parking break on. This is how I can tell whether the engine is off or not. Hopefully, this helps...

 

Electrical issues for us also. Wife tried to leave for work, car wouldn't start, flashed inoperable due to ABS, few others. Tried to turn it off but lights all stayed on and two hours later got critical battery warning. Before the tow truck came, I tried starting it and dash said 12v issue and then car fired up. Been at the dealership for three days now with "software updates". Getting no updates from dealer until I call in and then still not answering my messages. Been frustrating.

 

1. Just bought a brand new 2020 GLE 350 and in less than 48 hours it's in the shop.
2. The car unlocks itself for no reason and I get the wanings in the middle of the night. The first two days I'm running outside thinking someone is stesling the car.
3. The right rear window goes down on its own just enough to set off the ap to send an open window alarm.
4. The navigation system takes me to the wrong destinations
5. The voice command features are not responsive
6. Car in shop for two days and only owned it for two days. Mercedes says there is nothing wrong with the car!!!!!
7. After reading everything here I know others hsve these isdues too.
8. What can I do? HELP!!!!

 

Collected my wife's new 2021 350 GLE 14 days ago. Had it towed to the dealer yesterday. The trunk opened by itself four times. Once when we were driving. It was also a problem when it was parked at home as the concrete roof above the parking spot is lower that the car with the trunk open. So it banged against it. Added to this the wing mirrors folded automatically and did not open again. Also the engine revved way up without anyone touching the accelerator.

One other thing that perhaps someone could help us with. Our condo parking space is small with walls on each side, when she tries to park the proximity alarms go crazy. It is so noisy that our neighbors complained. Can you turn them off/down? This is her 4th Mercedes and she has never had problems before.

 

We have a 2021 GLS and two months in the MBUX unit crapped out. They had the car for 9 days and replaced the MBUX unit under the passenger seat. It worked on the way back from the dealer. Next day.......same issue. No MBUX functions. Stay tuned.......

 

Wife's 2020 GLE-450 had same instrument panel malfunction. Dealer said it was due to software update needed and only dealership could do update. Unnerving this happening while driving. Both dealership and MB customer support claimed they were unaware of this issue with others. This is 3rd mait repair trip since owning what was supposed to be dream car. Like car, now reliability and trust issues with dealership and MB corporate.

 

I am deciding to buy the lease . Do you think good or bad idea ? 58k miles . No extended warranty . Curious if it’s worth the risk. I love the drive and car and yet to have any major issues with the 2020GLe . Maybe I am lucky so far

Prices have gone way up since you signed the lease. The buy-out is probably a lot less than it would cost you to by the same car off a lot. If you like it, think of buying it at a steep discount.

Since it's still on warranty, can't you still purchase the extended warranty?

 

Totally missed the mileage and now I can’t buy extended warranty because mileage 55k. Mercedez warranty is not the option. I am not sure about third party warranty companies . According my MB service advisor he doesn’t recommend any third party warranty company. Obviously he is biased but he brought up a good point that most third party warranty companies don’t pay dealership service rate.
how do I buy at steep Discount ? Don’t i need to pay same amount that is written on contract as risidual value ?

The amount on the contract is below what the car will sell for on the open market. If you return it, the dealer will sell it for a lot more than what you can buy it for as your price was predetermined at the start of the lease.

What's your buyout? Just a rough estimate, the car is worth about $44,000 (around here) if you had to replace it. Get your own estimate at kbb.com

When we bought our 450 it was just off lease, and had about 58,000 miles on it. We were able to purchase the Mercedes extended warranty at that time. Maybe things have changed.

 

got it . My buy out is 42k. Yes , things have changed . Now you can’t purchase extended warranty after the original warranty of 50k expires.

how’s your vehicle holding ? My concern is I don’t want to run in to electrical issues at 70 or 80 or 90k and drop 6-8k on repairs

 

You can program the trunk door not to open fully; to help avoiding the concrete read your manual it will tell you how to do it.

 

Our 2025 GLE 450e is doing the same thing! Did they ever fix your car? I noticed you posted this 5 years ago! Mercedes sales told us they've "never heard of this" tho the service dept said they had but that Mercedes did not know how to fix "yet". This is testing my patience beyond.
