Hello all! My 2013 GLK350 had a right chain tensioner failure, so since i’m a diesel (big truck) mechanic i said to myself let’s do this! So watching some documentation online and looking in this forum found good tips for that job but i have an issue, i have 2 marks on the back of the cams and 2 marks on the cam gears. Looking at how to position the cams they said that the back marks should be on the edge of the cylinder head... i also saw 3 paint mark on the chain so i supposed that 1 pait mark is for the bottom gear and the 2 others are with those 2 gear marks, am i right? Cause right now i’m at 40 degrees past tdc both mark on the chain and gears matches but the back marks are just slightly below the edge of the cylinder head... very slightly you see the mark but they are maybe 1-2mm down... so my question is, is my timing ok? I guessing that if the chain marks lines up with the cams, that the cams are in good position (intake and exhaust valves closed) and looking thru the cam sensor port they look ok (half the timing wheel visible) i guess i’m properly timed? Valves are closed on the first cylinder right side is this the cyl#1?
Thanks a lot for your time and help, i don’t want to cause any damage at startup 😄
