Can anyone give me a step by step how to do this?
I've examined the diagram and for the life of me can't figure it out
I've tried messing with it on multiple occasions and can not figure it out!

Are you sure about the "spring"? The "spring" is actually a bent wire that snaps into a groove in the housing. First remove the electrical connection, then gently slide the spring upward...just a little. DO NOT PULL THE SPRING ALL THE WAY OUT!...if you do, it's a b....ch to replace. Gently pull lamp straight out and examine the position that the bulb was in. Take new bulb and align it as the old one. Once seated, you simply push the bent wire back down....it is that easy...unless you pull out the wire and don't remember the lamp position.

 

planethill above is for 2013...you should have the retaining spring as is pictured and you push it up....just enough to release the bulb...if you don't have it, someone ahead of you lost it (as I said in my post above).

 

Confirmed: no spring in 2013 model. The bulb is held by three metal prongs. Gentally push the prongs outwards, and the bulb can be pulled out.
