Have a 273 engine with a p0017 code. Someone recently put 4 new cam sensors. Seeing that it was just right bank I installed both right side solenoids/magnets. I did purchase all 4. I am familiar with the chain guide wheel issue. Not sure that applies to 2008 models. Code came back right away. When checking base timing through sensor holes. Markings seem to line up but being a v8. I am having trouble seeing the 305 mark on balancer. Much easier on 272 engine. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Thank for reply’s removed belt and idler pulley. Cleaned and marked timing cover, 305*, and 40* in case I need to remove front covers and check gear marks. All marks look centered. I swapped right bank exhaust position sensor with one from Left bank. Code actually stayed off for a little while then returned.

Did end up pulling specific codes instead of just the generic p0017. Replaced timing chain guide gear and right bank VVT exhaust sprocket. Although not in affected range there was quite a noticeable difference. In side by side comparison of new and old chain guide gear. After resetting camshaft adaptations with autel ms906 and driving. Codes have not returned.
