Fuel at distributor and fuel on return line. If I spray down a little carb cleaner down into the throttle plate it still does not even burp like it wants to start?? Thanks in advance. :)

Well if there's fuel at the distributor, I would crank it over a few times, pull one of the spark plugs and see/smell gas?,if so,ignition problem no spark, if no fuel/smell?,fuel not reaching injectors, then check fuel pressure with gauge to confirm, also check all your fuses,OVP relay has a fuse also, most common part that goes bad with Mercedes OVP

first we need more info to help you... was it working fine before and suddenly happen..? and looking at your profile this seems either a new car you got or could be someone else's car... the car would still start with a bad ovp fuse it just wouldn't run for long..... it sounds like a ignition/electrical problem as lowesguy said I suggest you pull the distributor cap and check that and the rotor... if not that I suggest you get the ignition coils checked.. do all this after you check all the fuses...

Thank You Guys! It is a new car to add my collectiion. I did an impulse buy on ebay about 1 year ago. Bought is non running and the previous owner had it at a garage in South Florida somewhere. They told him it needed spark plugs, fuel pressure regulator, fuel distributor and the fuel leak fixed. Previous owner said it would not start. He purchased a new sl and sold me this one. I had the car shipped and pushed it into my garage and did not look at it for around 4 months. One day I went out there and installed a battery and cranked the engine and heard the fuel pumps turn on. Kept trying to crank it and it almost started. Tried it again and it started and ran terrible would not rev over 2k rpms and kept trying to stall and then I smelled gas and shut it off. There was gas coming from under the engine somewhere. Last week I had some time and went out there to play with it (about 6 months later now)...now it would not start or even try to start. No sign even after spraying into the the throttle plate. Today went out there and took off the distributor cap and it is destoyed. The copper contacts are completely burn through and the only thing that was bridging together the broken copper was green carbon. When I scraped the green carbon off there were perfect holes where the rotor button was spinning and firing. Ordering new cap for now. Now I am wondering...is it possible raw fuel was just dumping down the intake because it was not burning due to the bad distributor cap and the computer could not compensate for this? Maybe the garage in South Florida new this and were trying to take advantage of the previous owner :( Time will tell...I will keep you updated. Thanks again!! :)

make sure you order the O Ring because most likely the reason it was all messed up was because of moisture... and if it is the problem (most likely is) get it checked and all the fuel pressure and compression tests done by a Mercedes Benz mechanic (unless you can do it yourself) and make sure there are no leaks whatsoever before driving for long periods of time... (this is for your safety) and finally how many miles does it have?

UPDATE..Thank You guys once again for the pointers. I installed my new bosch cap and rotor today. Checked the fluids really fast, crossed my fingers and turned the key....welll.....it started in like 2 seconds...started like it just ran last night :) Well I turned it off after a few seconds of it running due to darkness in the garage and plan on the next day I have some time changing all the fluids and going from there... I will keep you guys posted on what happens when I put it in Drive...hopefully it does not eject me through the roof! :)
