This information is frequently sought on this forum, but is not already here. It is valid for ALL engine variants in the W215 class.
The information is for cars up to 31/08/2002. After that, minor changes were introduced as new features were added to later models.

Fuses and relays are in 4 locations:

a) Engine bay left, inside box F1: K40/6 covers f1 to f27, relays A to J.
b) Engine bay right, inside box F1/1: K40/7 covers f28 to f49, relays K to P.
c) Rear, inside box F4: K40/5 covers f50 to f77, relays Q to U.
d) Cockpit, fusebox F3: covers f78 to f86.

A note about the +12v supply code shown on the fuse drawings. It shows what position the ignition switch is when the supply is available.

15 = switched battery power, hot in positions 2 & 3
15R = switched battery power, hot in positions 1, 2 & 3
30 = unswitched battery power.
87 = powered via (unspecified) relay.

The information is also relevant for W220 class. I hope this helps.

Correction below: "fuse & relays trunk" pdf. The correct location of this fusebox (K40/5) is under a removeable footplate beneath the rear seats.

I'm confused :( Is there a fuse block in the trunk AND under the right-back seat? I can't find any videos or diagrams for the trunk one.

where are the cockpit fuses locatedon an 02? it doesn't show them on the layout and on other years layouts it shows they are inside of the dashboard, however i don't have them in my dashboard so perhaps they are somewhere else? i ask because i have some issues and some of the components tie in with the cockpit fuses
