What year do you have?
If it is a 2005, it is a coincidence. If you are getting code 9103 or 9123 then it is a wiring harness
defect that the NHSTA is looking into. You will want to give it attention promptly. MB has
is well aware of it, but the dealers are charging 6.4 hours of labor to fix it. It is noted in
MBS bulletin TSB p-b-91.60/99. As of right now it is possible the affected airbag will
not deploy in an accident.
If you are having either one of these codes then please go online to the NHSTA and file
a complaint. They have an active investigation going on right now. The more owners
they hear from the faster we get a recall and MB covers/reimburses people that have this
problem. You can read about the investigation here about half way down the page. All
2005 W211 owners should read it as well over 160,000 cars in North America alone
are affected by this issue.
