DIY LEATHERIQUE!! PICTURES!

Well, guys, here is the DIY I promised you all with pictures! Hope you enjoy! The weather turned on me the first day and we had rain so I really didn't have much sun so I applied another treatment the next morning and let it sit in the sun all day. After the 2nd day I decided to yet put the 3rd coat of rejuvnator oil on and let this soak for another night and the whole next day. After the 3 red application, I put the PRESTINE clean in a spray bottle and sprayed the seats down and wiped off with a clean cotton towel. I was amazed at the results. Hope you guys enjoy!
Sincerely,
Designo_E320

great job designo. next time don't use gloves, just apply the oil with bare hands, they will be so much softer afterwards. :D . i see you did about 3 coats of rejuvenator oil. i would think you would get better results if you just gave it only one good coat of the oil. than repeat the whole process in a month or so. personally i use leatherique once a year and then every 2-3 months or so i use lexol which is a lot cheaper. my 10 years old leather looks brand new, not even a scratch on it.

Thank for the advice:thumbsup: I am planning on doing this all over again in about a month. Will let you know the results. Thanks again! BTW, I only use gloves when I am examining my patients. You can get diseases touching their "leather" ;)

Hello my friend!

Nice work and thanks so much for all the photos, but I have a couple of questions: What did you use the masking tape for, I don't see it anywhere on your car. Someone wrote somewhere that bare hands are the best applicators for the RO. He also said to clip your fingernails close so you won't create any scratch marks. Be careful on the rubber-like steering wheel buttons. One of mine was getting grimy and I wiped it with some PC; afterward, it looked like it had melted :( Fortunately, my dealer's detail lady used some stuff and "fixed" it. She gave me a can, but I forgot to ask her what else it is good for.

I saw the wing on ebay, but didnt know if it looks good or not, but it does. I cant tell the off set of those rims you want but from a close look at the rims it looks like the bult size may be 5x114. It may need spacers from the size of those wheels as well. They look great.

Hi there!
I don't recall using any masking tape:confused: . If there was some in any of the pics then it got there by mistake. No need to mask anything. I didn't have problems with my steering wheel though?

Thanks, I'll scratch that idea then! Most probably I will probably get W211 wheels on there. It will b a nice but a subtle change and won't look all done up or fake.

SORRY - I must not be awake yet - I guess I imagined that! I looked at your thread starter again and there is only RO, PC, paint brush and gloves (that's where I thought I saw the tape mentioned).

I might have applied too much pressure on the button. How about your MB-Tex? George Pavlisko (president of Leatherique) said we can use RO and PC on that as well.

Regarding the wheel upgrade, have you seen the ones that came on the 2002 Special Editions and the post-facelift sports package? I think those look the best, but a dealer quoted me $467 each, and he was not positive those were the right ones!! For what this is worth, I have the same wheels that you do.

I used this stuff on everything in my car except the fabric and it works well. By MB tex do you mean the doors and the arm rest? Well they turned out great also. One thing though, the smell wasn't very on marks but that died within a few days. I would have liked to have gotten the smell of real leather again.

As far as rims go, I would imagine some realy sweet AMG Chromes may realy realy compliment your car very well and give you the subtle look you need. I think they may run around $1500 which aint bad this days for a strongs set. I personaly am waiting for rims a bit cheaper, something on sale.

Hey guys,

I have the 2002 E430 Special Edition.

PLEASE NOTE

The "Special Edition" wheels are a limited run made just for those cars. They look similar to, but are not identical to, the "Sport" wheels. Almost found this out the hard way when I had to order 2.

Never was able to find any of the special edition wheels on the web, and had to go to the dealer. Price actually wasn't awful - 350 per, if I recall? I really like them on the Silver car.

I'll supply a photo when I get home.

The two rims that I replaced were servicable, but cosmetically damaged beyond any repair. I had them mount one in lieu of the spare, and keep one in the garage as well.

Special Edition Wheels

I know this doesn't belong here, but I said I'd post this. I don't see the utility of a dedicated thread, either.

The pics show the rims, and the original window sticker.

The next post will show the markings on the rim.

Special Edition Wheels (2)

Markins on the rim.

Obviously, the size and proof marks are there. But are the numbers beginning with, or on the same panel as, those with "210" designate the part numbr, or our chassis?
