:crybaby2:Hello Gentlemen!

I bought my first Benz 1995 S320 three weeks ago and already started with this problem. Rear Driver side door is locked and won't open, it appears to be unlocked, but won't open from either inside or outside. I've looked at this forum and found the below link from Ben which is very detailed, however; this is to reference '97+ models and not '95 S320. Will it be the same, or is there anyone reading my post with some help?

V12 Uber Alles, Getting to know your Closing Assist Pump in a W140 Mercedes Benz, an article by Brett Allison

Thanks All!

there is a couple of things that can be wrong. it could be the PSE pump, a rod or an actuator. my driver door use to do that and mine was a bad actuator and rod. its not that expensive to fix but the hard part is getting the door opened with out damaging it. if i were you i would go to shop and have them make sure what exactly is wrong with it

forgot to mention rods are very hard to find. dealers sell wrong rods.

Yes, you are right nhzruthless818 and Sensei. I took the pump right from the left side inside the trunk.

Is there another pump anywhere else, or anything that triggers the door handle (inside and/or outside) when I try to open the door even after is unlocked.

thanks guys

Why all of the interest in the pump?? If you pull up manually on the door lock stem and the door will not open the problem is inside the door and has nothing to do with the pump or vacuum actuators. They just operate the existing, pretty much standard door lock mechanism. If you are seeing the stem raise/lower slowly when operated by the pump you may have an issue with the pump/hoses/vacuum actuator but it will not prevent the door from being unlocked manually. Your problem is inside the door.

thanks Sensei and chuckindetroit, You're both correct about the problem as I had mentioned on my first post. I manually lifted the stem and door still did not open.
The door stem will no longer raise/lower anymore when I tried it last night, however; it may be an internal issue like chuckindetroit mentioned.
How do I go about it though, if it's a mechanical problem on the latch not allowing me to open the door?

any input on this is always appreciated,

Hi mys320
i had a problem with my rear door on my s320 1996 this was about 18 months ago and fixed the problem i have just dug this reply out of the forum it helped some other members and could help you. This is if your door will not open from inside or outside the handles are Not jammed/stuck. Please try answer below good luck.

I have had exactly the same problem for the last 5 months, door will not open from inside or outside so cant take door panel of just going around in circles. Getting in and out of car just useing one rear door but yesterday had some time of and had another go. YES i have FIXED this problem i was so fed up that i did not care if i broke the door panel i just wanted the door to open. So what i did was put glass fully down open usual screws 1 behind wooden piece 2 screws on handle then get 2 x flat screwdrivers with the glass down and if you look from top you will see the top of the door panel fold down between the glass rubber seal if you put screwdrivers in this small gap and lift up the lip which folds down next to the rubber seal it is pretty fiddley but keep at it. Once you have liffted enough to put other screwdriver underneath the small gap then you can go along the whole of the top of the door and pull the door panel up first & inwards please note the panel is very stiff so you will have to use some force. Now there is a small gap and you will be able to see behind the door panel but i could not get my arm in the gap i got angry and pulled the door panel inwards really hard and to my amasment the plastic door poppets behind the panel came away from the centre piller side.( I Just remembered i took the rear seat out first), so now all the panel came off except the side with the lock as the screw cannot be opened without opening the door.
I had already taken the panel of the oposite door to see how the lock worked. After inspection i could not see any plastic links broken and every thing seemed to be working right, it was still very tight to get ur hands near the lock as the door was still closed. So i got a long flat screw driver and pocked around in the locking mecanism pulling the out side door handle at the same time and suddenly the door opened i could not beleive it. So after long inspection nothing was broke so i sprayed plenty of WD40 on the lock ond it is working perfectly. I left the panel off over night just in case it decides to jam again but perfect, still do not know why the door was closed solid the only thing i think it could be is something was just stuck and i got lucky with pocking the screwdriver around. I hope this helps regards sid

I put my money on the problem being mechanical, with the actual lock mechanism..

Neither of the pumps could cause this problem..

That last post seemed quite helpful in terms of removing the door panel while the door is closed.. Good luck

Thanks mafiaDON and napaAl,

I think sid hit the nail on the head. I removed the panel from the working rear door (right side) to get a better idea on what to look for. I found a small hole righ by the triangular window railing for the panel clips on to, and was able to insert a bendable 1/8" rod to get this door to open and it did without the assistance of either handles.
I then tried opened the door panel from the other door in question just enough to get a three inch gap, and fiddled with that rod, but could not get it opened before I realized I had to head to work. The saga continues tomorrow...

Thank you all!

Good News Gentlemen!

I finally got this door opened. It turned out to be the part #71 from first diagram posted by Merc600sec. See below lin

http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w140-s-class/1564319-w140-ds-rear-door-stuck.html

Although I had to force the door panel to open more, giving me a bigger gap and access to notive the broken rod tha triggers the lock/unlock actuator.

Hope this helps anyone else with this similar issue.

Thanks to everyone!

Cheers!
