Need your advise: i spoke to MB recently about my peeling issue. they were kind enough to absorb 60% of the overall cost of wrapping up all the peeling parts but i'll have to pay about S$1000. is it worth it? mine's a '97 model.. OR simply sell it off and get a brand new honda sedan or madza 3... comments?

I think you'd go mad driving a madza 3 ;) You could just repaint it yourself or find a good interior shop

Well, my dealer will wrap it with leather-like material. i think it will be PVC based. looks like leather. and i get to choose what color and material.. i thought it was a good deal.. they have decided to lower it to S$500 or i just pay about US$300. i thought is was ok. this way, the interior will not peel!! they will do everything that has peeling issue.. that includes the glove box, handle, dash, sides.. etc..

i just got off the phone with DC. i will meet up with their rep. perhaps next week to go through what type of leather they're giving me. according to them, it'll take up to 10 days to complete the job but they r not going to give me a loaner car.. bummer!

Hey guys. just a quick update. i just got back my car (was in the workshop since last monday). It looks fabulous! this is how the slk should look like when they launch it instead of those crappy sprayon paint. anyway, its late since i got back so i'll try to upload some pictures to you tomorrow. to cut the long story short, they wrapped everything that used to be sprayed on.. including the handles.. ha. and i like the way they did the glove compartment. not a bad deal for US$300 (btw, they charged me half the price; they gave me US$300 worth of workshop vouchers as well).

not that i know of. i understand that they customise it for whatever car is necessary. which is why i was carless for 9 days!

i really liked the job as they managed to match the leather to very close to what was original. in fact i can't tell the difference except now the car really feels like a mercedes. i have more pictures but i can't seem to upload. perhaps i will do so tomorrow.

You are 100% correct, that is what the interior should have looked like from the beginning. From the pictures you posted it looks like they did a beautiful job. The seams are straight, the fit is snug, and the color is correct. I doubt that there is a single dealer in the States that would both agree to defer some of the costs and still provide such good workmanship for $300. My opinion is you've upgraded your vehicle tremendously for a very modest investment.
