You may check with the dealer and order replacement panels, then it would look like new. You can remove the panels and try to refinish them but it's a thick coat of polyester clearcoat over them and it's not going to go easily, you'll have to do a lot of sanding and the pressure may crack the very thin, very brittle wood anyway. If money is an issue, it may paid to coat it with a polyester filler, sand it smooth and paint it a solid color.

Contact Drew Tribitken in Tennessee or North Carolina. He advertises in every issue in the STAR magazine. He does great work and is widely recognized as the M/B wood expert. I can supply you with his company name if you need it. Do you have a copy of a STAR magazine?

http://www.diymbrepair.com/Wood/ I bought a gallon of brush on stripper, and hosed it off. I only did a light sanding with 800 grit at the very end to remove stripper residue as the veneer is pretty thin. It took like 3 or 4 applications to remove the old finish, let it sit atleast an hour before removing stripper. My only tip in retrospect is to mask off the holes for your switches on the inside to insure a good fitment.
