For those of us who wash and detail our own cars, and with Spring just around the corner up here in Northeastern Pennsylvania - I was wondering if anyone else has used Zaino Car Polish on their Mercedes?

My recently purchased SLK is Capri Blue Metallic. This is a very deep metallic blue.

I have used Zaino previously on a black car and I found the results to be amazing.

Apparently Zaino is a "layering" system of polish which adds a deeper, wetter shine each time you apply it. Additionally, unlike waxes, Zaino does not burn off as quickly and an application does last longer.

I intend to post pictures in April of the SLK up at Valley Forge Park which has some great historic monuments and scenery to use as background. By that time, I should have a few coats of Zaino on the car to show how that shine looks.

If you want to know more, here is the "link" to the Zaino website:

I used Zaino products on my previous C230 and the results were amazing!!!! Since I've got the car in December I didn't have the chance to wash it the way I really want so I haven't used it on the SLK, but as soon as the days get warmer I plan on using their products on it!!! For now (quick winter washes) I only used the Zaino car shampoo. [8D]

I do car detailing on the side and use Zaino. Both of my cars are polished using Zaino and I love it! It is really great stuff especially the Z6 spray, Z7 shampoo, Z18 clay bar, and new Z2 Pro polish.[:D] You get an overall finish that is sooo smooth and full of shine. Not only looks fantastic, but also makes washing the bugs and tar off the car much easier. Zaino products also feature sunscreen which guarantees protection from damaging UV rays.

I have 2 coats on mine and will put a couple more in a couple of weeks. I used it for 4 years on my S-2000 and and I swear by it. Here is a pic of my 4 year old S with 30 plus coats of Zaino.

I use a Zaino like polish called Finish First. Works in the same way as Zaino. I've got several layers of it on my current car. It gave an incredible shine on my older Bahama Blue SLK too. A very deep shine.

It lasts longer then a wax too, which is really nice!

Just got off the phone with Sal Zaino who has a CL600 polished with his product.

Our new SLK paint (which is also on the CL) basically results in a few additional layers of clearcoat which reduces scratching and allows for a "harder" paint.

The Zaino product is prefect for our cars. I only wish it was a warmer here so I could start putting some coats on now.

PS - The Honda S2000 looks GREAT!! [:D]

I have three coats of Zaino on my Irridium silver car and it's great. I started with the car wash concentrate, then used the clay bar just to make sure it was contaminant free and then put three coats of Z-2 with the accelerator, using the gloss enhancer spray between coats. It shines great, it's super smooth and easy to keep clean. I just use the gloss enhancer spray between washes to keep it showroom shiny. I even used it on the rims, helps keep the brake dust off with just a wipe.

Anyone recommend a good one that is available in the UK?
I, like Shinigami, use 'Finsh First' too
(Imported from the states)

However Autoglym Super Resin Polish is the best product off the high street shelf in the UK. Its a polymer like FF and not a wax.

But Meguiars is pretty damn good and can be had mail order in the UK. (in fact i've got a couple of litres of wax if anyones interested in some cheap)

If you would like, contact Zaino from the link provided at the begining of this post.
They may be able to ship their products over to you in the UK.
In the US, we have to order and have these products mailed to us - and they seem very customer friendly!![:)][:)][:)][:)][:)]
Let us know if you give them a try - their products are ABSOLUTELY some of the best out there.

There was a very nice write up of using Zaino in some place... can't find it anymore.

Here's one on using Meguiars however: http://www.miata.net/garage/meguiars.htm

For a nice basic job using Zaino, get the car wash concentrate(z-7 I think), get the clay bar(Z-18 I think), get the Z-2 polish, and the accelerator additive. Also get the Gloss enhancer spray(Z-6, I think). Basically, the drill is to wash the car with Dawn to get rid of old wax, then use the clay bar. This removes any contaminants and leaves the surface super smooth. Then use the car wash concentrate to get rid of the clay bar residue. Then three coats of Z-2 polish with the accelerator additive. Use the gloss enhancer spray between coats and your done. Showroom shine. Sounds like a lot of work but it goes pretty quick and the results are worth it. It lasts for a long time and it's easier to keep the car clean.
