I just wondered the age demographic , as the car is not a dynamic sports car more of a Grand Tourer it's perhaps not considered an obvious younger mans car I am 45 , I had my first SL in my thirties ??
I would like to nominate my son who I am teaching to drive age 10 ( as I was thought to drive that age )

This was by the grounds of Warwick Castle , the Grass was a lil damp and he ended up doing a couple of dohnuts which he thought was hilarious! Was hilarious seeing the astonishment on people's face witnessing a ten year old driving the SL

It is impolite to ask a lady her age.:bash:

This will be interesting to see. While the sample size as of this AM is small, I am thinking the breakout will be simillar after a few days. This car seems to cross generations - to me, a core factor that differentiates an ok car from a truly great car.

I would vote but I don't like the age spreads.

40-50

50-60

Where do I go at 50?

I don't want to be stuck with all those old guys.....yet.

Nothing wrong with being an old guy, Nob, when you consider the alternative. :D

I don't like it either, but that's because at the current results I'm above the average age, suddenly I feel old. Time for a beer :beerchugr: While I still can.

Interesting. So far the greatest number are of the age that got their drivers license at the tail end of the 107 era when there were far more contemporary and higher tech sports cars on the road.

22 years old checking in. I've only recently been allowed 'full access' to the 107 but I was 16 when I took my first drive and confirmed my obsession.

I don't consider it an 'old man's car' and I'm certainly the envy of my friends once I show them what the 560 can do :D It's certainly a lot more interesting compared to some of the cars on the road today.

In fact, I like these cars so much I'm even (still) trying to buy a '78 450!

20 almost 21. I started driving a 450 SL at the age of 18, though. My dad currently drives the 450, and I drive the 560. Something about the ABS brakes being better for me :p

If you think 50-60 bracket is old, what about us old farts that go to 101. I can't wait to post that I'm >101. For the record 36 years from now, and I hope we can still own internal combustion cars by then. Perhaps the AMG IFR rated flying car version?

Oops I seem to have opened a can of worms , nice to see a few younger drivers! Any advance on aged 10 yet ??
I certainly find the car is admired by all generations including a lot of teenagers which surprised me a bit .

I have had plenty of teenagers tell me they love the cars. One night, while both the 560 and the 450 were parked in front of the St. Paul Hotel, a brand spanking new AMG SL550 was also parked outside when we were leaving--still had the Euro plate on the front of it--but the crowd was gathered around the two 107's. I went to look at the AMG and people asked about the 107's and I told them the years. I pointed out how much the AMG was worth, and the silly people said they were not interested in the AMG, they liked the 107's better. One of the people there claimed to know the owner of the AMG, said they owned a 107 and still liked the 107 better.

Silly people.

To Werner's comments - I got my license in '79 I believe, right in the midst of the "107era" - would have loved one then, but the reality is unless you were a celeberty, athelete or member of a very wealthy family, most buyers were well into their careers.

The 107 to me were just like a 30's Auburn boattail or Cord, or 50's Jag XK or 300 SL - big, powerful and built for that lucky, wealthy few. They appealed to everyone but you likely would not find one in a high school parking lot (when new - good to see some there now!). Very cool we can enjoy them now as those other cars are another rent district...
