I know it was loose, but someone stole my rear star!!!

I know it was stolen because the old one isn't sitting on the ground anywhere and I walk by my car at least twice a day (if I'm not driving it). If I am driving I always approach it from the rear anywar.

The front star was positioned quite awkwardly, letting me know that someone tried to take it, but found that it was secure enough they decided to leave it be.

WTF!? who takes the rear star?

So now I'm left ordering one, I'm not really bummed... I wanted to put a newer one on there and "nicen up" the area. But how in the world does one install the new one? I haven't found a write up or instructions in a manual.

There really easy to install, three plastic clips or sleeves on the trunk lid, just presses in. the star is about $40 from dealer and they can sell you new clips.

@martureo

I share your pain, I also had the rear lid star stolen (in fact partly stolen, it is not as easy to remove, as it is bolted on), front star stolen several times and in Munich (Germany) they tried to remove the 200D badge, but failed.

Oh, W123 rear stars don't have a nut in the center? Must be thinking about W116 then, oops.

the trunk star is attached with a nut in the trunk.. maybe you left the trunk unlocked and they just opened it and undid the nut?? Anyway, now you have a change to clean under the star. When I waxed my car this summer I removed the star and 280CE emblem to clean the "aura" of accumulated dirt. Lemons to lemonade, my friend.

I have drunk college kids trying to steal my hood star all of the time.

I'm on my 3rd star in a year and a half of ownership. First star was ripped clean off and the second star was knocked out by me since the legs of the star were corroded.

I always find it cockeyed on Mondays when I go to class.
