I've been hunting for a source of vibration dampers to replace the disintegrating unit on the short drive shaft of my W123 1985 300TD 5-spd manual.

Has anyone had to replace their damper? Where did you find your replacement?

The MB electronic parts catalogue shows the driveshaft (by part no.) without displaying the damper fitted, so my local parts dealer cannot guarantee that the damper will be fitted to it. Problem is, the dealer won't import the driveshaft unless I undertake to buy it, damper or no damper. Yes, I know, find a new dealer... That's what I'm doing.

But in reality, I don't need a new driveshaft (cost here in NZ is about $NZ1700 -- I'd be denied all conjugal access if I paid that much!). I just need the damper which fits on it.

Can you help?

Thanks
