Didn’t even get that far with Rick Spicey! He offered me much less than asking price ($250 Included shipping. Was too busy to talk, texting only. When I asked for pictures and if he was a dealer with a shop or a private seller, he said private. When he sent picture it wasn’t my part. Told him no thanks. He then asked me to send a pic of what I need so he can check his shop! Scam scam scam.

And was zapped as soon as I logged on and saw it. This whole thread is about those brand new users who show up with just what a WTB add is looking for. They are always to viewed with caution.

I may have been stung.....
I went to great lengths by search scam sites with the two email addresses provided.
When I got the images, I copied those into google images just in case they found this reasonably rare part in an image when googled and nothing.
I used PayPal and selected Supplier as this way I was covered, I thought, if he didn't supply. However, this froze his account and he refunded the money. He wanted me to use Friends & Family.
After I'd done all the checks and he refunded me the money via PayPal, I thought well a scammer wouldn't send the money back? BUT I was wrong, it did freeze his account and I spoke with PayPal about it and why etc.
By then we were up to 20+ emails and I sent him an Amazon Gift Card.
When this Gift Card was mailed to his gmail address it bounced advising this address does not exist.
So, in good faith and just wanting this to happen, I sent the gift card to the second address.
That was 48 hours ago, nothing back.

I have reported the two parties involved to the moderators of BenzWorld.

Far out all I want is the part!

I am the moderator of this section and have no such report. Who was it?

This whole thread is a warning about people with no posting history on this board showing up with just what “want to buy” threads are seeking. I’ve never seen a legitimate person do that. Any form of unprotected payment being requested is a big old red flag.

I have reported several obvious scammers in the past and Edfreeman zapped them down literally in minutes.

Help protect our community. If you see anything suspicious, report it by clicking on the three vertical dots on the top right hand corner of the post.

ALWAYS pay with PayPal linked to a credit card! NEVER with "Friends & Family, gift cards, Walmart Card etc................They're all basically cash!

thanks Ed
The people who I dealt with was Holland0
He referred me to [email protected] who is not posting on the site.
It started with “my friend has one” type of lead.
I’ve since reached out to Holland0 with no response.
Cheers

Last summer I placed a WTB entry in the W124 classifieds sub-category. Over the course of a month I had two scammers contact me outside of BW without accounts here. One said no time to make one the other said didn't want to pay "the membership fee." Yeah, okay. When I asked the second individual for more photos of the 8-hole rims, he said he wasn't at his storage unit. I didn't let it go beyond that. Probably lifted photos off some site or forum and sent them initially. When I didn't respond he kept insisting he wasn't a scam, and said he'd accept half payment, ship them, and I could pay the balance upon receipt. Ah no, you dirty troll.

My error in judgement posting an email address to make it simpler for folks here to contact me.

Never post an email address or other personal or contact information to a public web site. They're scraped and archived, allowing the unscrupulous to easily collect such data.

Beware of this scammer

Diallo Lamine offers to buy your item but states that he is busy and will send a FEDEX courier to your home to collect the item and hand over payment. He then states that FEDEX requires you to pay for insurance and this amount will be included in the envelope with item price.
A FEDEX email is sent asking you to buy and send cash cards to FEDEX to cover the cost of the insurance. This will be a fake email that can be checked by looking at the source code. This is an email address that scammer Diallo Lamine uses and has turned up across Europe [email protected] All FEDEX email is @fedex.com.

Funny story about Nigerian scammers. I had to travel there for work a few years ago. I called my CC issuer and told them that I was going to be in Nigeria and to NOT block any hotel charges from a particular hotel. I was reassured that because I placed an "International Travel Notice" on my account, I would be fine. I wasn't. After way too many hours on an airplane I finally check into the hotel and of course they want a first night advance for lodging and my card is declined. Multiple times. I call my bank, that rhymes with USA and their response was "It's coming from Nigeria, we always block those charges!". Not really what I wanted to hear.

In hindsight, I think it's rather humorous that I got caught in a reverse Nigerian scam...I was REALLY there and couldn't get my CC to accept them.
