The hitch police have been slacking, 'cause those are installed on lots of cars here in the states. I prefer the box hitches for versatility, but the Euro versions are superior for straight towing

Bangaway, pics?

Not sure I want one that bolts to the spare tire well.... Would rather have the proper one.

The 1 1/14 reference more than likely is related to a box hitch. Curt makes these for both sedans and wagons; I have one of each kind in my fleet.

Is it a Da' Lan?

[Edit] Now that I see the pics, it's clearly neither a Da' Lan nor a Curt.

Curt makes the highest cap hitch (for wagon) and it's tucked up under quite nicely. I have a 2" ball on mine. 350 Tongue weight, 3,500 Tow.

If a 1.25" receiver is installed, an OE-looking "gooseneck" tow hook can be installed with varying heights depending on need.

I've got one in my Forester. The capacity of the hook exceeds the capacity of the vehicle, per manual.

Yep, the box hitches are way way more versatile than the OEM Oris hitches.
