I definitely should have noted I walked away without a scratch or even bruise. These “tanks” were really safe cars for their day and held up in this instance very well. I ended up hitting a power pole and ran off the road into a fence and was still able to drive the car away… just amazing.

There are quite a few nice cars out there but there’s always at least one thing about them that makes me not pull the trigger. I’m going to wait for that goldilocks car and i’ll know when I see it. I’m hoping to get one on the west coast but I’d also ship if it’s perfectly what I need and seller is willing to take copious pictures and videos and wrk with a local shop for an inspection.

I am looking to replace my 1988 560SL that was totaled last week. I am open to any 560 and maybe even a 1972-73 model. I’m not looking for super low miles or show quality, I love to drive my cars at least a few times a week. I prefer Midnight Blue but am open to any color besides Signal Red (beautiful color but doesn’t suit my personality) and another quirk is no grey interiors. Other than that i’m open.

You still looking? Think I have your 560SL. Not super-low miles, far from show quality. But I've owned it for six years. It's in Portland, OR, and I've driven it to LA and SF many times (recently). From what I can tell, it's also one of the lowest-priced 560SL 107s in the nation. Wouldn't hesitate to drive it to CA tomorrow. $7450 Firm. Worth every penny.

Check my profile: there are pics of it from all over the west coast. I would LOVE it if it went to someone from this forum instead of someone who'd part it out. New shocks, steering stabilizer, front brakes, tie rods, alignment. Just had driver's side fender replaced/repainted (receipts for $1600). Clean title with no accidents; owned by two families ever. It's actually from Pioneer, CA. That's where my uncle acquired it from the original family. Soft top is crap, interior is imperfect, paint/clearcoat imperfect but looks great at a stoplight, climate control very selective as to when it wants to function, would need a catalytic converter from a yard to register in CA (but has Oregon parade plates that you could drive for a long while if you wanted). Finally, a knob on the ring gear is worn-down and one out of every 40 starts it makes a noise. Has been like that for my six years of ownership. Went to replace the starter (what a frickin' PAIN : ) ... and the starter was fine. Just one tooth on the ring gear bad. Hasn't been an issue over six years.

Anyway, it's a lot of Benz for $7450 and loves road trips. No smoke, no BS. Runs like a champ with 208,369 and has another 50-100k mi left in it. I wouldn't hesitate to drive it to SF from PDX.

Drop a line, man. This feels like it might be something that's meant to be.

If I had the money I’d buy yours and still look for another but i’m looking for my forever car and i’m only 38 so forever is going to be a long time. I’m all good on everything except I was looking for something in the 80k-125k miles range. I have no doubt this car has a lot of life left in her and I really suggest you post this in the forum in your own listing as there’s no doubt a member willing to snatch this up and love it for those 50-100k miles. I really appreciate you reaching out… I’m very tempted

No worries, man. So sorry to hear about yours. Guessing your meeting with a phone pole was due to a drop in road height while driving aggressively? Hardest thing in these is when you're moving and the road drops in height a few feet and the 4200lbs is still "in the air" and the tires aren't really in full contact. Driving this much weight on 15" tires is an art form.

This one has brand new Bilsteins (made a huge difference in handling after I installed).

Anyway if you need an "in-betweener" in the best color ever that you could drive for a year (and probably just leave the SP plates on with the title and bill of sale in the glovebox) hit me up. Think the cheapest running/driving 560SL on-line is priced above this one; you could probably sell it for more in a year. But nbd. I'll get around to posting a full "for sale" here for this one soon.

I just... don't really want to sell it : ) You understand: you've owned/driven one. Best cars ever (lot more powerful after the cat was taken too).
