I was attempting to change the oil on my 97 E320, and I drained what I thought was the oil pan, but what came out clearly was not oil. It had a red tint sort of, I think maybe it was brake fluid. Anyway, does anyone know what I may have drained, where to pour it back into, and where the oil pan drain plug is??????
Help!!!!!!!!! [:0][:(]

Sounds as though

you drained your transmission.DO NOT return it to the gearbox unless you want to buy a new one soon.Either put the correct amount new ATF back in,or have the car taken to the dealer so they can do so for you.

That was my first thought, trans fluid but........

I checked the fluid and it seemed full, or is that just a reserve?

ATF is red

unless it's really tired;then it's usually brown.[xx(]...What fluid did you check, the engine oil or the transmission fluid level?.There is no "reserve" for either one,and the only brake-fluid access from under the car is at each caliper's bleeder.Be absolutely certain that you've found the fluid source and put the right amount back in.If there's ANY doubt, tow the car to the dealer.
