Good afternoon you all,
I am in the process of rebuilding the top of my engine and I want to take this assembly completely apart and redo it and I don’t know what it’s called. I am also going to remove the wiring from the assembly and in case it in some shrink tubing, is that a good idea or should I just tape it

thank you

Yes it has ASR.
The attached picture of the cut sheet that Mercedes Benz gave me associated with this assembly does not match up for some reason having trouble identifying some of the components as I compare them to the cut sheet. My real question is I intend on taking all this apart sandblasting it and having it CROMATED as I am doing with all of the other associated parts for the top of my engine. If I do have them cremated will all the plastic grommets that are on these particular pieces get ruined.

As to your concerns about chromating, that seems like a question for your chromating specialist.

Thanks @luckymike! I stared at the original post for a good 10 minutes this morning. Thinking, it looks like the throttle linkage. But it can't be. That's too easy. And wth is all that wiring doing there? Is it some sort of weird cruise control unit????

Thanks for chiming in ISTHENWE This is the part number that’s stamped or raised if you will, on the main housing of the unit that has all the wires in it mercedes benz 006-542-85-17. I googled it and eBay and that exact picture came up so whatever it does I’m sure it did it well when the car was new and hopefully it’ll work again when I put it all back together again.

Once again thanks for chiming in

WOWOOOOOOOO

WAY MORE THAN I EXPECTED !!!!

you da Man !!!
Thanks! Glad it works for you man!

I referred to them when I installed Tempomat/Cruise Control in my '91 SEC.

I was very pleased to find ASR 'pre-wired' for the switch.. so the little pictorial gaposis on page 149/1 was of no consequence.
