Driver side cam mag's leaking and there's oil in the black plastic connectors pictured below. MB encino said they replaced the defective cam mags in July of 2011 under an open campaign and MB USA says they won't cover the cost again.

I'm having trouble believing if it was really replaced 2 1/2 years ago that it would be leaking again, so based on the part number written on the cam mags, can anyone tell if this this an updated part number or one of the original defective Cam Mags??

see my response in sticky. chazman, this is a 05 and earlier issue only (4 cylinder). the dealer should be able to give you a printout of service history. i doubt they would fake it. MB pay them to do a service campaign, so they'd have little incentive to lie.

Indeed, dealers can be guilty of many things but I've never heard of one claiming to have performed a recall but not done it. I can't see why they'd do such a thing.

From what I see you have a part that has been known to be problematic - showing the problem that it's known for.
