what things would i need to look for? my engine is running bad at the moment and this is a australian built engine which are very reliable and parts are cheap as chips...

th eengine only costs me about $400 which puts out close to 250hp standard.
it is also a DOHC 6 same set up as the m110.

what big changed would i be looking for?

Make some measurements and...

...get some W126 vented brakes

The Aussie engine has a long stroke, doesn't it? I'd make sure it would fit under the bonnet. Measure the height, it is probably taller than the MB engines.

Indeed - you need to pay particular attention to the bottom of the engine as on the W123 chassis there's a connection piece between the two sides of the front suspension mounts - the engines all have to fit over this. You can see it in this picture - there's an aerosol can and a bottle of Metal Ready (is it?) on it...



I think that changing this part of the structure incorrectly would seriously mess up the car...
