Hi All, I have a 1991 SEC with 78K miles. My question relates to the rear shock/springs - the rear shocks have no leaks, and the accumulators are fine, but while cornering a bit aggressively, the rear tends to feel a bit soft and bouncy. The car also has the upgraded thicker sway bar. The front has Bilstein struts and feels perfect, with little to no dive.

My question is that with no leaks do the SLS shocks get weak after 30 years and 78K miles? Also, thoughts on Springs, do they weaken as well? Its a heavy car, and I dont expect it to handle like a Porsche!

How do you know accumulaters are fine? How old are they?

If the strut isnt leaking then it is prob fine.

The Tech tested them, and said they were good. Would accumulators help stiffness in the ride quality?

When accumulators go bad (leak internally), ride will become stiff and harsh.

My experience is the ride will be bouncy over bumps when accumulators need replacing.

Thanks for all the feedback. The ride is not harsh or stiff….its more soft and bouncy.
