[:D]Hi,
Has anyone had experience replacing kingpins? While rebuilding the front brakes I noticed some play in the Kingpins so I am assuming I will have to replace the kingpins and bushings. I have the factory manual but would like any advice from someone who has done this.
Thank you,
Tony

This may be simple to do on older US cars ,but on the merc 111/110/112/108/109 (they all use the same parts ) it's a hard job.The trunion joints should also be checked for wear, thats the a arm joints with the hex heads.
It would be better to get a merc Specialist to do the job becuase you need a jig to set the correct angle for the top and bottom pin fittings, which have to align in a vertical plane.
The bushings also need to reamed to get the correct fit. Then the clearance for the thrust bearting needs to be set.
Rest assured once the job is done it will last another 40 years, possibly longer with proper maintenance.
To remove the upper and lower pins you will need to make a little bolt which screws onto the pin so you can pull it out.
I do my own king pins and only becuase I've done it for decades and in my area Merc specialists who can do this job are nonexsistant.
