Hello everybody,

I'm looking for some info on servicing, trouble shooting,
repairing, replacing hydraulic pump in MBU/SBU.
Manual for 427 doesn't have it, so it means
it is the same as 424/425.
PDFs, scans, diagrams ?

As always thanks in advance.

Hi Yarr

I just finished installing a hydraulic system on my Unimog. 1300L Genuine MB parts to the control block. Then bought hoses in Edmonton for the plumbing. The pump is an eckerle. It appears to be the same as in Trevor's picture. The pulley had the MB number on it. Mine being just the single circuit with four levers for the two sets of hoses was fairly simple. Front to back I ran on straight tees for now. if one wants to isolate them then one could add manual or electric valves later. Money disappears quickly with this hydraulic stuff. If one is having trouble with their system then one should rig up a pressure tester to plug into the outlets so one knows what is going one.

I am really pretty ignorant and I imagine your system is far more complex but if I can help at all just ask.

We'll see how it goes.
If it comes to hydraulics, I'm very green.
I've only had to replace 2 brake lines so far (one flexible one cunifer)
and changed brake fluid.
Not that I'm looking for more work on it either.
I think pressure tester is a good idea.

Thanks for the offer.I'll keep in mind.

valve cells

My hydraulic pump may still be OK,
I'm concern more with valve cells.
My truck has two of them.
They all covered with oil.

Did anybody ever serviced them?
Is it hard to do it?
How much would be for used one?
Ben? Von? Jay? Anybody? :)

Yarr,
I rebuild the ones I installed on my truck. Not a hard job if you have some basic mechanic skills (like you).

If they function as expected I wouldn't be touching them based on your photo, maybe a little dirty but that isn't a lot of oil. I dont see any drips or new wetness to alarm me.

I just pulled one out with three circuits that was leaking. I just sent it out to a hydraulic shop for all new seals. they can clean and test it for leaks, so I know it works before I put it in.
