It was a common failure on these cars, as he said 17mm spanner and remove the bolt, if the shock can be moved in by hand it is finished.

I didn't test it but I'm going to change it anyways since its cheap and easy to.take care of...I was just how shocked the bolts themselves were loose that were holding it in place

Mafiadon no need for pics.....its about as straight forward as closing a door ..2 bolts and its behind the oil pan under the car and it looks like a shock. Lol

Steering dampener shock. It's horizontal not vertical.

i have a rock solid steering but @ times the steering just turns towards the right a little, also when i am driving & having a slight turn i hear a squeaking, can it be the steering damper,my suspension is in top notch condition & also the tyres & wheel allignment,
there are so many dampers available on ebay but which company is the original supplier????

thanks in advance

I think you may have a wheel camber problem, have you had wheel alignment done recently?

It does not matter really, it's so that when you hit a pothole with one wheel and not the other, it does jerk the wheel out of your hand's.

You can tell that your shock has gone bad by having it fully extended and compressing it, if it take less then two seconds to be compressed, it has out lived it's usefullness and need's to be replaced.
