I have a new set of wiper spindles. the old ones were an absolute mess of worn rusted metal. does someone know of an easy way of removing the connecting arm from the actual spindles it is like a ball joint of sorts and no amount of reasonable force even touches it, is there a way or is it a case on brute force. thanks

It will just pop off there. Sometimes they're pretty tough. Just pull straight away on the axis of the ball.

I used a set of needle nose vise grips. I inserted the pliers in between the ball and the connecting arm. A slight twist of the pliers and off she comes.
I hope this helps.

the easiest way that i found was to hit the socket w/ the heat gun for a minute or two...popped right off after that...just don't melt anything[:D]

Lubricate the balls before useing the thin pliars method. Any double sided taper wedge and GENTLE applied force.

Warmth does work but may loosen the ball from its plate houseing.

Twist with upward leverage.
