I had my windshield wiper replaced at my local MB mechanic's shop. I have it back, and it seems to be working fine. HOWEVER, I think it has been installed on the wrong side of the windshield. Am I crazy?

If so, should I take it back and complain?

I appreciate everyone's help.

Both of my cars are on the driver's side!

I would rather it start on that side.
But I guess you need the wife to start on the side you drive from.

I don't think you're crazy.
Does it work?

Yes it works. But the proper resting position should be in front of the steering wheel right?

hahahaha. Neat. This is unusual. Perhaps keep it that way if it works fine. Little less obstruction for the driver.

My uk W124 is under the drivers side of the screen . And i would have thought beeing lefthand drive in usa it would be under your side of the screen on the left hand side . Dont tell me that the both sit on the right .

Jason if you think it was on the left hand side under your side of the screen, then your right mate its on the wrong way around . Wiper body is on the same side as steering wheel .With the blade sitting on passengers side at rest.

Wonder how they did that? Don't you just flip a lever and slide wiper off the hook to change?

The wiper motor assembly must be removed to change the windshield. I would return the car to the installer and have them correct the problem. I'd also insist they warranty their work.

Did I missed the part where the OP said he had the windshield replaced? I thought it was a little strange that he took it in for a wiper replacement!

I stand corrected and thank you. I've been in the hospital for several days and obviously aren't thinking clearly. They plan to let me go tomorrow, if I understood that correctly!

Thanks

It's been a very difficult month for me. I was hospitalized for 4 days at the end of May while my wife and I were at our summer home. I only got worse, so we returned to our Florida home and..here I am again in the hospital.

Blockage in the small intestine. I've lost 25 lbs in 4 weeks and weigh under 150 now. Less than I did in the 6th grade - almost 60 yrs ago. Being discharged tomorrow and will be on the gain weight train for a while.

Monowiper cars like the W124 generally have the wiper rest on the drivers side. This ensures that in a sudden deluge etc, as soon as you activate the wipers the wiper immediately clears the drivers side, ensuring good line of vision. It's a safety feature we never really think about.

I wouldn't mind going back to my 6th grade weight. :)

I hope you get well soon!
