My 2002 CLK430 cabriolet Owner manual stated that for winter tire, use
7J x16 H2, 205/55 R 16 M+S Offset ET 37

My CLK430 come with AMG sport package option, summer tires are mounted on 17 inches rims.

I check tire rack's site and they recommend 215/55/16 tire size for CLK430 winter tire.

I have a set of excellent Yokohoma winter tires. size 215/55/16 mounted on 96 E320 rims with size 7.5J x 16 H2 offset ET 41.

Not sure if mounting E320 rims on 2002 CLK430 is proper? ie. with different offset ET 41 for E320 vs ET 37 for CLK430?

I don't think the E class rim will look good on CLK though.

My though is to remove the tires from the E rims and remount them on the CLK rims. Both set of rims are 16 inches in size.

What is the implication of mounting 215/55/16 tire on the 7J x 16 CLK rims which are from CLK320?

Tire width is wider, 205 vs 215, not sure about the height of the sidewall? Both are 55...

Can someone comment and give me advise. Thanks.

My winter tires I have are on the original 16" alloys that came with the car. I have 215 x 55 x 16 on 7J. I dont think you will have any issues at all with fitting. They shouldn't rub or anything.

Thank for your confirmation. Good that rubbing is not a problem, it does somehow mess up with the speedometer reading when mounted with 215/55/16 tire. This information comes from the local tire depot store which I brought the Yokohoma tire from last winter.

Like the look of your vehicle, very agressive and elegantly done...

Thanks for the compliment, it took months of searching and decisions to chose those wheels! The results paid off though!
