I was wondering which tire sizes are manufacturer approved or best for
winter or off roading in terms of balancing between good ground clearance and vehicle road stability? The tire sizes that I had seen
are 225 75 16, 235 70 17, 235 65 17, 245 70 16. Is there a mercedes approved tires size which is optimal for good road stability and good ground clearance for off roading? Any input would be appreciated.

I believe the only thing Mercedes would spec is the size and speed rating of the tire. The rest is up to you. To help, here is a somewhat older list of tires used on the M-class along with comments by owners.
