So i'm back again fixing these pesky little problems...

A few months ago, all the windows functioned perfectly fine.

Last month, driver's window wouldn't work at all.

I just cleaned the switch for the window. It now goes down with out hiccups!
However, it doesn't want to go up. I can hold the switch down and nothing will happen. If i constantly keep depressing the switch (depress/let up) the window will eventually go up in tiny increments. Am i hurting anything by making the window go up like this??

Also, what do you think is wrong? Is this a window regulator or relay? (I have no idea what these do or where they're located)

Thanks again!

When it doesn't go up does it make any noise? If the motor or regulator was failing you'd probably hear it trying, if it is quiet I would re-check the window switch you just cleaned. Depending on how well you cleaned it the first time you may be able to see where it is loosing contact by the blackened area of the short. Sometimes these 20 year old switches actually break and can't be cleaned back to health. If it was me I would go to autohaus and buy one. If you plug it in and it doesn't help you still have a good replacement on hand for when you'll need it..... and someday you WILL need it. :)

Because the window mechanism is held by 3 points. ONE is certainly already broken or very loose, I would say the one at the bottom. You have to remove the door panel and check that 10mm bolt (2 up, 1 down) is still holding firm.

May - be the picture of my left window repair will upload.... then you will see at the bottom left (of the picture) this bolt I'm talking about. But actually the broken point that caused the problem you describe happened on my RIGHT window...... (not shown here). Sorry./

Hmm... ok... This window might be dead permanently... I have absolutely no idea how to take apart the door. Can anyone kinda clue me in on where to begin?
Also, if i miraculously disassemble the door what should i be looking for?
Does the window mechanism have a name? I'm having trouble finding window parts....

Thanks again!

Removing the driver's side door panel is the easiest of all panels  !

First of all, remove the plastic door handle cover with a small flat-head screwdriver; it simply pops out (green arrow).

Then proceed to remove all the screws shown by the red arrows. The arm rest screws are at the bottom (not visible).

After all the screws are out, carefully pop off the door cover, taking care not to break the door fasteners (they're quite cheap if you should break a few ;) ).

To remove the door cover off the door shell, lift the cover upwards. Be careful of breaking the tabs that fasten the map pocket to the door shell (although they might already be broken...).

Like WeVonBraun mentioned, make sure that all three bolts that fasten the window regulator (think that's the term you're looking for ;) ) to the door shell are tightly fastened. Also, the window motor is fastened with three bolts to the window regulator - make sure that these are also tightened. See if you can rock the motor to and fro; there should be no play whatsoever.

Hope this helps.

About the L shaped clip holding the front of the map pocket on: as mentioned: do not try to pry it out , or you'll break it. It is not replaceable because it is part of the door panel. Other retaining snaps are. They are around the bottom of the door and you simply pull the panel away from the door to get them loose. A good tool made for this purpose helps.

Once again, i must say that you guys are AWESOME!!!!
Yesterday i was just gonna call it quits and forget about the entire window problem.

I took apart the door with out breaking anything. I found that nothing was loose or malfunctioning. It is the switch that is partially malfunctioning. It goes down fine when you hold the switch all the way down. It goes up fine when you old the switch half way down. When you fully depress the switch, i get this tiny movement of the window b/c the switch is connecting, then quickly disconnectiong or partially connecting. I can live with a switch that requires depressing it half way.

Now off to fixing the air cleaner bracket and the injector return lines!

Thanks again!
