Hello all!

I have a '98 SL500 and am wondering if anyone has any insight into adjusting the LOWER window limit on second gen. R129s. Everything on the car works as it should including soft top operation, the issue I'm having is the driver's side window makes a noticeable 'clunk' sound when it finishes its cycle of fully opening/going down. In addition, it goes down further into the door that the passenger side which leads me to believe it isn't sensing the lower limit properly? I know on first gen. R129s there was a microswitch that would allow for this adjustment, but the second generation models are regulated by counting cycles/spins inside the regulator to determine proper distances.

Any ideas as to how I can adjust this? And yes, all window resets, battery disconnect, etc. have been performed as well as ensuring all codes are cleared via Xentry.

Thanks in advance!

You are correct that "second generation models are regulated by counting cycles/spins inside the regulator to determine proper distances" and you car doesn't have the micro switch.
As your window makes a noticeable 'clunk' sound, I suspect the problem is mechanical, like a loose attachment of the window mounting hardware.
So remove the inner door panel and take a look.
